All of our domes larger than 26' in diameter are engineered to exceed the wind and snow load requirements for the area they will be used in. Frames: Geotech Domes uses 6061-T6 aluminum for our struts. This is the strongest weldable aluminum available. We also make structures of steel or fiberglass when the application is warranted. All of our frames bolt to precision-machined hubs that are also 6061-T6 aluminum. The hubs are precision-machined using computer-controlled machinery to maintain proper geometry and angles. Finite element analysis is preformed on all of our designs to insure compliance with building codes. We size the materials depending on the size of the dome and the environmental conditions that it will be exposed to. We can anodize aluminum when it will be used in a corrosive environment.
All of our dome frames are designed to withstand hurricanes.
Tension Fabric Covers: Geotech Domes uses only the highest quality polyester weave PVC coated fabrics. The covers are built with the same precision that we use in building the frames to guarantee a perfect fit with the frame. Each cover is constructed using the highest quality materials available, forming a single piece membrane that will not leak. Our materials will not rot or warp, and perform well in high moisture environments. We design and build for the conditions and purpose the dome will be used for. Vents can be installed in the top of the dome for hot climates or the dome can be insulated and air-conditioned like the Royal School of Science in Tonga.

Our designer John Hackett, is a machinist with 40 years experience. John has built parts for the military, including parts for cruise missiles, nuclear reactors, and high performance fighter planes, as well as the automotive industry. All our products are produced "in house", we are able to design and produce precision geodesic structures and tension fabric covers to exact quality standards. We use computer controlled milling machines and the latest CAD/Cam software to design our structures. Our structures are designed with the quality that will only be found in aircraft type machine shops. Our inspection standards are to Mil-I-45208.
